Dedicated to guiding homeless and at-risk homeless families towards self-sufficiency

Being in the Doors of Hope program has been very beneficial to me. I have learned so much being in the program and gained another family. Since I graduated from the program I am more self-aware and confident in making every day choices and life decisions. I have been out of the program for a little over a year and because of the knowledge gained from the program, I can do things I have never done and never thought I could do!  Any time I felt confused or felt like I messed up, Doors of Hope was there for me. Through continuing on with the after care program and attending STEP 2, they have helped keep me stay grounded and provided the resources to help me focus. Because of this program's teachings, I am now moving into a lease-to-own home and I have never been more ready!

What we do

Family Moving In

Doors of Hope Transition Ministries helps families through financial crises.  We work with families who are currently homeless and with families who are at imminent risk of losing their homes.

Our Story

In 2010, while reading the Oxford Eagle, Sherry Williams-Jenkins saw an announcement for a community discussion on homelessness in Oxford and Lafayette County. From that initial meeting, a task force emerged that would change the face of homelessness in Oxford and Lafayette County.  By 2011, Sherry and others had worked to develop a vision and mission for Doors of Hope Transition Ministries.

The purpose of Doors of Hope Transition Ministries includes, but is not limited to, guiding homeless families and at-risk homeless families in Lafayette County, Mississippi toward self-reliance and stability through a holistic individualized approach that includes life-skills training, mentoring, and supportive housing.

Doors of Hope became a 501C3 organization in 2011, and began its work.  In the first year, three families successfully managed the rigorous four-month program and were set on a path to financial independence.
